Overland Flow

Flood damages are not only caused by flooding from rivers and lakes, but often also by surface water flooding. This flood type is caused by rainfall that cannot be drained (anymore), thus, starts to pond and to flow over the landscape as overland flow. If elements such as buildings, infrastructure or even agricultural fields are in the way of the resulting flow paths, these elements may be damaged.

This project aims at providing the basis for better understanding and predicting overland flow as well as the associated damages.
